When Music Takes Me Away: Dancing in the Mind’s Eye

By Michelle | Wings of Courage

🕊️ *“Music doesn’t just help me escape—it helps me confront.

It doesn’t just quiet the storm—it teaches me to move through it.

There’s a sacred stillness that finds me when the world goes quiet—when the noise, the stress, and the expectations all fade into the background. In that stillness, music arrives. Not just as sound, but as sanctuary. It doesn’t ask questions. It doesn’t demand answers. It simply takes me away—away from reality and into a world where I can feel freely and imagine boldly.

I don’t always physically dance—but in my mind, I am always moving. Always creating. Always choreographing.

✨ Rhythms in the Soul

When the world falls quiet and the lights are low,
It’s the music that finds me, where words can’t go.
In melodies, I swim, in beats, I breathe,
Every note, a story, my heart’s reprieve.

…For in its sound, I find my way,
Letting music speak what I cannot say.

Those aren’t just lines from a poem—they are my truth.

There are moments when I imagine myself pole dancing—not for performance, but for power. In that imagined space, each spin becomes a declaration of freedom. Each grip a symbol of control. Each rise after the fall whispers: I’m still here. Stronger than before.

Then there are the softer scenes—ones choreographed for him. A slow, romantic dance between us, bathed in moonlight and memory. My hips tell him things I never dared speak. The rhythm becomes intimacy. The movement becomes magic. And in that private, imagined world, love lives again.

But not every dance in my mind is about passion or healing.
Some are bold, unapologetic truths.

I’ve imagined dances filled with fire—raw and deliberate. A choreography of confrontation. Sometimes my movements say, “You hurt me.” Other times they say, “You can’t stop me.” These are dances for the chaos-makers, the mistake-makers, the shadow-casters. And yet, in every imagined move, I transform pain into poetry.

🌒 The Stage Within

These internal performances—these silent ballets of memory and emotion—have become my lifeline. They’re where I play out the feelings I can’t name, where I reclaim power, where I let love live and let pain leave.

Because music doesn’t just help me escape—it helps me return.
Return to my body. Return to my voice. Return to my truth.

“When the world grows loud, let your imagination take the stage—
Choreograph the truth, and watch the darkness learn to dance with light.”

🎧 Let the Rhythm Find You

So tonight—don’t run from your thoughts. Don’t quiet your imagination.
Let it rise. Let it move. Let it choreograph your truth.

Pick a song. Close your eyes.
Imagine the steps. Picture the lights. Feel the scene.
And then—create.
Write it. Dance it. Draw it. Breathe it.

Let music carry you—not just away from the world,
but deeper into yourself.

Because somewhere in that imagined movement…
you’ll find your healing, your truth, and your light.
