It really depends on the task at hand and the headspace I’m in. Sometimes, I welcome silence—especially when the environment feels calm or when I need clarity without added noise. But other times, I reach for sound—not always for the music itself, but as a way to hold space for my emotions or to create a gentle rhythm that carries me through the day.
When I do need to listen to something, my choices vary widely. Coldplay and Imagine Dragons offer an emotional lift, blending reflection with momentum. Seal’s voice is grounding—smooth and soulful—offering a sense of inner calm. Reggae and dancehall bring life and movement into the moment. Their rhythms remind me to stay connected, joyful, and strong, even in the busiest hours.
Then there are moments when I need something deeper—something spiritual. Gospel music fills that space beautifully. It reminds me of grace, strength, and purpose, especially on days when my spirit feels stretched. Stoic sounds and meditation music serve a different role—they don’t distract, they center me. They help me regulate my breath, slow my thoughts, and realign with whatever truly matters that day.
At work, I want music that lifts my energy or settles my soul—depending on the hour and the mood. Whether I’m soaring through tasks or needing to ground myself, these sounds give rhythm to my day, help time flow with more ease, and often, they remind me of who I am beneath the noise.
