Wings of Courage: Why I Chose to Soar

There’s a memory I come back to often — a moment that changed how I see myself, and the path I’ve chosen.

It was just after a long shift. I was emotionally drained from witnessing the quiet suffering of someone who didn’t have the words, the power, or the support to speak up for themselves. As a nurse, I’ve stood beside many people in pain — physical, emotional, and invisible. But that day, something broke open inside me. Not just compassion. Not just sadness. It was fire. The kind that says: “This isn’t enough. There’s more you’re meant to do.”

That fire is what gave me wings.

It took me from the hospital ward to global conversations about human rights. It carried me to remote corners of the world where travel became not just escape, but education. It helped me learn that advocacy doesn’t always wear a suit or sit in a courtroom. Sometimes it wears scrubs. Sometimes it speaks quietly from a blog.

That’s why I created Wings of Courage.
To give voice to stories like that — mine, and maybe yours.

This blog is where I’ll share:

  • Lessons from the road — both the ones I’ve walked and the ones I’m still mapping
  • Insights on wellness, healing, and self-advocacy
  • Honest reflections from a life in service, leadership, and love
  • Bits of beauty, humor, and courage in unexpected places

Whether you’re here to heal, to travel, to feel seen, or to find the courage to begin again — you belong.

This is not just my journey.
It’s our journey.
Let’s travel. Let’s thrive. Let’s transform.

With wings,
Mich3ll3
